Mario Centeno: "We have to be our own Marshall plan"

Mario Centeno, Portuguese Minister of Finance, chairs the Eurogroup which brings together his counterparts from the euro area.

LE FIGARO. - The leaders gave the Eurogroup two weeks to make proposals. What are they?

Mario CENTENO. - We will propose on Tuesday a new package of measures to defend the euro area and the European Union. These proposals obtained broad support from the Eurogroup. We worked on three dimensions: countries, companies and workers. Through the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), a line of credit of up to 240 billion euros will be activated and open to all countries. At the same time, a pan-European guarantee will be created by the European Investment Bank. It will finance up to 200 billion euros of investment, in particular in small and medium-sized enterprises. This amount of 200 billion is not yet stabilized. Finally, the Commission presented a measure on Thursday
