A magnitude 4.3 earthquake on the Richter scale occurred this morning (Sunday) in the Red Sea and was felt in the city of Eilat. According to the Geophysical Institute, the epicenter shook about 69 miles south of the city, at the heart of the sea, about three miles deep. The tremor also shook in the distant Dimona about two hundred miles.
This is a common area of earthquakes when the intensity does not usually exceed 2.5-3 on the Richter scale, the most recent one last September. However, in June 2015 a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred, a month later a 4.3 earthquake was felt.
