The prosecutor's office today filed charges against Victor Levy (56) in the Be'er Sheva District Court, using a knife to rent his friend's ear - after it brought him the knife as a gift.
According to the indictment, on March 27, 20, Levy and his friend met in a park in Beer Sheva to play tennis, eat and drink liquor. At the beginning of the meeting, Levi's friend gave Levi a gift: a new, large, sharp kitchen knife Levy had put in his bag. When they had finished eating and drinking, the friends bought a bottle of vodka, and sat down to drink it.
During the conversation and drinking, Levi thought his friend insulted him and hurt his dignity when he talked about his deceased children before moving to Israel. He pulled out the knife he had just received as a gift from his bag, and cut off his friend's left earpiece full amputation. He then tried to leave, while his friend was sitting on the bench bleeding and in vague consciousness. A number of people sitting nearby and noticed what was happening were trying to stop him from fleeing, but an IDF soldier who did not know about the chain of events prevented them.
Levy's friend was rushed to Soroka Medical Center, where he was anesthetized and breathed, and put into urgent surgery in which the doctors tried, in vain, to reconnect his earpiece. He was then admitted to the ICU for a few more days, until his condition improved.
Levy is charged with aggravated willful assault, and the prosecutor's office intends to demand that he be sentenced to life imprisonment.
