One person died on Sunday in a fire at the site of a "Chinese-style" hospital under construction near Moscow for the treatment of patients with coronavirus, emergency services said.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations quoted by the TASS news agency, fire broke out in the village of tents installed near the site, where some of the workers are staying. It spanned 90 square meters before being extinguished. "One person was killed," said the ministry. A source in the emergency services quoted by TASS said that the fire had started because of a wood stove used for heating.
The construction of this hospital, located near the village of Golokhvastovo, 70 kilometers southwest of the Russian capital, began in mid-March and involves 3,200 workers, some of whom live there. According to the mayor of Moscow, it is supposed to be inspired by the "experience of the Chinese partners" , who had built in February in record time 10 days a prefabricated hospital with 1000 beds in Wuhan, the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic part of China.

With a capacity of 500 beds connected to respiratory devices, the hospital must extend over 43 hectares and will include "operating theaters, resuscitation and diagnostic services, others reserved for children," explained the town hall. . Russia has 5,389 officially registered coronavirus cases and deplores 45 deaths.
