But that doesn't mean that the educators have nothing to do now, writes the non-profit Kinderland PLUS GmbH from Poing. It operates daycare centers in the districts of Ebersberg (Anzing, Ebersberg, Markt Schwaben, Parsdorf, Poing, Vaterstetten) and Erding (Erding, Finsing, Isen, Kirchberg / Schröding).
Poing: A maximum of five children in a group
On the one hand there is the emergency operation on the instructions of the Bavarian state government, which the Kinderland also offers for those children whose parents work in systemically relevant professions. There are currently around 30 girls and boys in nine different facilities, reports Kinderland-PLUS branch manager Gudrun Klein. “The number changes in part every day, depending on whether more or fewer parents use emergency care. All facilities are available to look after children every day, ”she says. "If parents who belong to the group of beneficiaries spontaneously decide in the morning to give their child emergency care, then it is guaranteed in every house that the children will be taken in."
It is naturally not possible to keep a distance
According to the government's guidelines, a maximum of four to five children are cared for in a group. The distance regulation cannot, of course, be observed when working with children, says Nina Bergs, specialist advisor in the children's area: "The children need - the smaller they are, the more - physical contact with their caregivers." played with them. In compliance with the hygiene rules such as regular and thorough hand washing, correct coughing and sneezing and regular surface disinfection, says Bergs.
Talk to Corona about children
The specialist adviser also talks to the girls and boys about the current corona situation: "Of course the children ask a lot of questions, they realize that the world around them has changed." The educators explain this to the children, Depending on the age, as factually as possible and as detailed as is necessary for the individual child, Nina Bergs reports: "That there are currently many sick people and therefore only the children, whose parents practice certain professions, are allowed to go to kindergarten, so that no one gets infected. And that is why the hands now have to be washed particularly well in kindergarten. ”
Prepare for reopening
According to branch manager Gudrun Klein, 1507 children are currently visiting the facilities of Kinderland PLUS gGmbH; around 320 people are employed in these.
Those who do not currently look after children use the time for other things, reports Nina Bergs. Things for which there is often no time in day-to-day nursery life, such as development documentation and the preparation of discussions with parents. "Working intensively with the development of each child and also discussing this with colleagues and checking your own observations is the basis of our pedagogical work." In addition, the time is used for further training (online) and for collecting ideas for the time when the daycare centers are opened again. In addition, the time is used to clean out the facilities, repair things or to retire items that are completely broken. So that everything is well prepared for the start.
