Munich - The muscular young man grins friendly at the camera on his smartphone. The sonnyboy apparently took the photo of himself on vacation. But the innocent smile is deceptive: he is a love scammer who has shamelessly exploited the feelings of a young Munich woman.

The fraud started in late September / early October last year. The criminal chatted with the 23-year-old from Neuperlach in the internet dating site Badoo . The two then met a few times. When the fraudster's confidence in the young woman had been reached, the police asked her to help him transfer money to Turkey . To do this, the man transferred around 1,000 euros, which he declared as a salary payment , to the woman's account. Thereupon the Munich woman transferred this money to an account in Turkey. After this action, the cheater disappeared from the scene.

Love fraud in Munich: 23-year-old suspected of money laundering due to transfer

The 23-year-old was initially suspected of money laundering . Because she had transferred the amount to an account that had already been in focus during previous police investigations. The officials found that as part of the fraud, someone had previously withdrawn the money from a 50-year-old Munich account and transferred it to that of the 23-year-old. The Presidium does not want to reveal how the fraudster (s) obtained the 50-year-old's data . Just so much: In this case, it was not a love fraud.

The responsible commissioner 77 then took two pictures of the man with whom the 23-year-old service worker had met. With these photos, the investigators are now publicly searching for the fraudster. It cannot be ruled out that the young man has also exploited other women in this way. According to the police, he had given himself a Turkish name in the Badoo partner portal. The Presidium is now dependent on the help of the population . Anyone who knows the man or can give other information is asked to register at 089/29 10-0. The pictures can also be found on the police website.

Love fraud in Munich: victims should be excluded on the pretext of falling in love

Love scammers take out thousands (often lonely) people every year. The term love scam or romance scam usually refers to a form of internet fraud in which in most cases fake profiles on single exchanges are used to pretend to be in love with victims and then to exclude them.

The police stressed that victims should be reported so that there is a possibility of conviction. The Presidium can also adjust prevention and warn citizens.

A Munich woman also fell victim to fraudsters, even selling her house for 2.9 million euros and moving to a hotel. The corona pandemic also encourages fraudsters to commit heinous acts.

A man systematically forged MVV tickets, but the police found him out. A love fraudster ripped off and humiliated a sick Munich woman who lost 120,000 euros.
