A good taxpayer, a lot of money for investments: this is what characterizes the budget of the Huglfing community. The financial package was passed unanimously. However, the approach was created before the Corona crisis. It is unclear whether the optimistic calculation can be maintained.

Huglfing - Bernhard Kamhuber was satisfied in the end: "This is a household that is impressive," said Huglfing's mayor. The local council had just unanimously approved this year's financial package from VG treasurer Alfred Schwab. It is a budget, but it was based on a forecast made before the outbreak of the Corona crisis. It is currently unclear whether the approaches to tax receipts can be held in this way.

Trade tax is supposed to flush money into the coffers

The municipality is starting the financial year with a total budget of just over seven million euros. This is below the volume of the previous year (7.753 million euros). If everything runs normally, in addition to the share of income tax (1.87 million euros), trade tax should wash money into the coffers again. Last year, the municipality had exceeded the million mark for the first time with this income. This time the treasurer reserved 700,000 euros. "That is a solid calculation," said Schwab - and expressed his expectation that this item would still go up given the possible additional payments. Despite its tax power - the value is 942.34 euros per citizen - the municipality of just under 3000 inhabitants benefits from a state financial injection: thanks to the full funding, 557,000 euros in key allocation from the Free State are factored in.

The district levy is unpopular but necessary as a source of income for the district. Huglfing incurs a whopping 1.65 million euros. In Weilheim-Schongau, the municipalities have to transfer 54 percent of their tax revenue immediately.

Several big projects are on the agenda - the money is not enough for everyone

What is always interesting is the amount of the addition to the asset budget. The money can be used as a free financial margin. In Huglfing, the treasurer wants to push just over 900,000 euros from the administrative budget. Schwab: "We can use that entirely for investments." However, the sum is not enough for all projects. In addition to the sports grounds (700,000 euros), social housing (200,000 euros), further station renovation (250,000 euros) and the renovation of the cemetery forecourt (150,000 euros) are major items on the agenda. The municipality must therefore go to its piggy bank: almost 740,000 euros are taken from the reserve. However, the municipality can do everything without loans, so Huglfing remains debt-free in the end. On the day of the budget decision, the municipality had assets of € 2.633 million with cash, checking accounts, daily allowances and reserve accounts.

At the March meeting, the mayor looked confidently into the financial future of his community. It was the last budget decision for Kamhuber after 18 years in office - the representative of the SPD / Independent had not taken part in the local elections and had his last day as full-time town hall manager in Huglfing on April 30. It's a good thing that the coffers are full, because "there will be a lot to the community in the next few years," said the head of the village. The list ranges from school building construction to station renovation to flood protection. This can be financed, however, was Kamhuber's conclusion. "It has been shown that the community has been quite productive in recent years."
