Schools are closed, people should severely limit their social contacts due to the Corona crisis. In a series, the Fürstenfeldbrucker Tagblatt asks the people in the district how they are doing now.

Today: Christoph Maier (55), service technician and IT consultant from Türkenfeld.

Which outside activities are you missing?

As the second chair of the German Alpine Club, Geltendorf section, I am usually on the road one night a week on club matters. The DAV club home is now closed. In private, my wife Renate and I go out to eat or visit friends more often. We like to go to the mountains on weekends.

What do you miss the most?

The mountains are the primary. My wife and I really miss them. When the weather permits, we usually go hiking at least every other weekend. We like to do tours at medium altitudes up to 1000 meters.

How do you fill the increased leisure time at home now?

In my spare time I am currently mainly a caretaker. We have two balconies, both of which are now getting a new covering. I also wanted to renew our fence this year, I preferred that. Then there are things that have stayed behind and that I can now do well: minor repairs to the house, mucking out and tidying up the basement, taking stock of all my IT and sorting out obsolete devices. When you think about it, you can think of a lot of things to do at home. I also maintain the homepages of groups in which I am active: "We for kids" and "KlimaAktiv vor Ort". And we have a large garden. So the blanket is not falling on our heads yet.

Do you have a tip for other citizens?

Switch off your Corona ticker and inform yourself only once a day. Going for a walk every now and then, that's just good for you. You can change the side of the street if someone comes towards you. It is also important to support the local economy as far as possible, for example to take advantage of the take-away offers of the catering businesses. Otherwise I would say: follow the rules, find a job and not lose the fun of life.

How do you keep in touch with friends and relatives?

Mainly via Facebook and Whatsapp. I also got in touch with good friends in South Tyrol and found out that everything is okay with them personally. Knowing that is good.
