Four workers were injured as a result of a fire that broke out today at the Banias Refinery Gasoline Improvement Unit during maintenance work.
A source in the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources said in a statement to SANA that as a result of the fire that broke out at the Gasoline Improvement Unit at the Baniyas Refinery, 4 workers were injured, slightly injured and burned to the hospital.
In turn, the director of the Banyas Refinery, Engineer Bassam Salama, stated in a similar statement that during the maintenance work in the refinery’s improvement department, a combustion occurred as a result of the smuggling of hydrogen gas, which led to the injury of four workers who were treated to the hospital of the martyr Iyad Ibrahim in Banyas and their condition is stable.
Engineer Salama indicated that the firefighting teams took control of the fire and the unit returned to work normally.
It is noteworthy that an explosion occurred as a result of a short circuit in the refinery last November during the maintenance procedure of one of the production units, which led to the death of a worker and the injury of five others.
