A heated discussion in the Sindelsdorfer municipal council - the reason is the new building of the building yard

Shortly before the end of the legislative period, there was another tremendous crunch in the Sindelsdorfer municipal council. The reason was a project that has been fermenting subliminally in the council for a long time: the planned construction of a new building yard with a club house on the grounds of the sports home. After a heated discussion, the decision was made to implement it.

Sindelsdorf - The planning for the construction of a municipal building yard including a club house on the upper floor has been underway for around eight years. In August of last year, all previous plans for a building in solid brick construction were then overturned due to the high estimated costs of around 2.2 million euros for the pure building. Instead, the municipal council unanimously decided to build a prefabricated hall (we reported). The project was further delayed due to the illness of the architect.

Before the end of the legislative period, the contract for the new building should now be awarded at the latest council meeting. Despite the corona pandemic, the meeting was necessary, said Josef Buchner (UWS) because the assignment was limited. As the mayor informed, only a single offer from a prefabricated hall builder had been received after the tender.

"Huge surprise bag for new advice"

The commissioned architect had examined this offer. It amounts to around EUR 1.012 million gross. Buchner pointed out that the offer was the “final price”. But there was resistance among the councils: "You still have to punch everything through with violence," asked Georg Burger (BL), referring to the current corona pandemic, which could lead to falling prices in the construction industry.

Gerhard Öttl (CSU) criticized that the local council knew too little details of the planning. He himself had never seen the architect's examination and had not even known that the tender for the contract had been decided at all. "This is a huge surprise bag for the new municipal council," said Öttl - criticism, which Mayor Buchner rejected visibly annoyed. "You all knew that," said Buchner, referring to the old minutes of the meeting as evidence.

New mayor now against contract award - "Well, thank you very much"

The newly elected Mayor of Andreas Obermaier (CSU) in Sindelsdorf refused to place an order on the basis of a single offer. He did not think it was good to make such a far-reaching decision that “the new councilor and I would have to take”. "I was long for the whole thing," said Obermaier. But he did not want "the quick push through".

Buchner sharply rejected this criticism and pointed out that claims for damages should be expected if the municipality does not place the order after the tender has been issued. There are important reasons for this.

With 6: 7 votes, the committee finally voted not to cancel the tendering process, but to place the order. A decision that Obermaier commented with an ironic: "Well, thank you very much". According to Buchner, construction will start "certainly not before autumn".
