The provider Telefónica wanted to build a cell phone mast near the kindergarten in Reichling. The local council discussed the controversial plans.

Reichling - The "Telefónica" wanted to erect a cell phone mast at the foot of the picturesque Wurzberg in Reichling. For the time being, however, this will not happen: the plans have been postponed.

The Wurzberg in Reichling is not just something like the landmark of the place: At the same time, the community kindergarten is in the immediate vicinity. No wonder that the announcement of the mobile phone provider "Telefónica", at the foot of the mountain in a barn
To erect cell phone mast caused excitement in the local council.

Cell phone mast on the Wurzberg: project not off the table yet

As it turned out after a further request from Mayor Margit Horner-Spindler, the provider does not want to pursue the project for the time being. But that does not mean that it is completely off the table.

In any case, the local council has decided that further information must be obtained before an opinion can be given. In addition, an alternative location outside the locality - i.e. outside in the direction of Vilgertshofen - should also be checked.

Much was not clear at the meeting: Above all, the provider had not announced whether it was 5G or not. It was only clear that the O2 network should be improved with a GSM transmitter, as Hans-Jürgen Korn noted.

Cell phone mast on the Wurzberg: Opinions differ

Lars Scharding, in particular, saw the project very skeptically as a father of several families: "I don't like a mast in the village," he explained. He would find it better to place the antenna as far out as possible. "And 5G is out of the question," he said.

Korn pointed out that an antenna that was far outside would produce even more radiation than one in the area.

Mayor Margit Horner-Spindler pointed out that there are different opinions among the population with regard to mobile communications: "There are two sides: one side does not want radiation, the other side wants a better network." And as far as the legal side is concerned, The mayor said: The municipality should not generally reject the project - it only had the option of proposing a different location. The latter did the same: she asked to check the location in the direction of Vilgertshofen. If the project should be pursued at all.
