The CGT called on Monday for a general strike in trade and service activities from Wednesday to denounce the lack of protection of employees in the face of the coronavirus epidemic.

" We note that many retail chains, private and airport security, logistics, after-sales services, personal services [...] do not comply with health rules, endangering employees and the public with whom they are in contact on a daily basis, ”read a press release from the CGT Trade and Services Federation.
" The Federation announces that to protect employees, their entourage and the people they meet in the exercise of their work, it calls a strike from Wednesday, April 8 until sufficient measures are obtained to ensure real employee safety in their banners, ”explains the union organization.
The CGT denounces since the beginning of the confinement the working conditions of employees of the large distribution, brought to work, without mask until recently, to ensure the food supply in France.

She calls in particular for the closure in supermarkets of shelves of products not essential to the survival of the nation. She also wants masks to be made available to all staff and that hydroalcoholic gels are installed in store entrances to allow customers to wash one's hands.
The union has so far recorded nine deaths linked to the coronavirus in the sector, as well as 1,097 suspected contamination cases and 876 proven cases. These figures have not been confirmed to the authorities.
