In the middle of a pandemic and confined for three weeks, the French will be able to take a break tonight. It will indeed be possible to observe with the naked eye or using binoculars the largest full moon of the year 2020.
Also called “ Super Moon ” or “ pink moon ”, this phenomenon occurs when the Earth's satellite is closest to our planet. Tonight, the Moon will be 363,300 kilometers from Earth.
The phenomenon of Super Moon will start around 6:10 p.m. but, due to the longer days, can only be really observed once the night has completely fallen. And it is only at 4:35 am that the perigee will be reached by satellite. For a perfect show, a clear sky is in force. This does not appear to be the case, according to the weather forecast.
The next of 2020 will take place on May 7, October 16 and November 15.
