The department of Mayenne has decided to order 300,000 masks, made locally, one per capita, the institution announced on Tuesday evening in a press release . “The Mayenne Departmental Council, chaired by Olivier Richefou, has chosen to issue an exceptional order for the manufacture of 300,000 washable and reusable fabric masks which can be distributed from the beginning of May to the whole of Mayenne population, " said the press release.

"The order was placed with the Mayenne company TDV Industries on the basis of a prototype having received the approval of the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA)" , specifies the text, according to which this initiative constitutes "a first in France on the scale of a department ” .
"Following the declarations of the Academy of Medicine and the recent inflections of the government, we understand that there will be no safe deconfinement without wearing masks" , explains the institution in this press release.
