Minister Zevallos assured that the initial contagions in Ecuador occurred through people arriving from Europe with a high viral load in their bodies, which caused the infection curve to grow exponentially. "If we can flatten the curve, we will better handle the emergency," he insisted.

Ecuador is one of the countries most plagued by the coronavirus in Latin America. To date, it has registered 3,747 cases and 191 deaths (130 of them only in the province of Guayas).
