France announced today an unprecedented 1417 confirmed overall death toll from the corona virus in the country.
France Press quoted the Director of the French General Administration of Health, Jerome Salmon, as saying in a press conference this evening that the death toll of the dead in hospitals and homes for the elderly in the country rose to 1417 cases and reached 10328 after it was 8911 yesterday evening.
Salmon said that the number of deceased in hospitals rose 597 cases and reached 7091 compared to 6494 yesterday.
He added that the death toll recorded since the beginning of last March in the homes of the elderly in the country increased 820 cases and amounted to 3237 after it was 2417 yesterday, and this figure represents the largest rate of increase in the total number of deaths caused by the virus and recorded in France since the outbreak began.
Salmon also reported that 3777 new infections were recorded in France's hospitals during the past day, bringing the total number from 74,390 to 78,167 cases, and France became the fourth country in the world that, after Italy, Spain and the United States, had crossed the 10,000 mark due to the deadly virus that has so far killed 81,000 people In the world.
