Washington (dpa) - US President Donald Trump's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham (43) vacates her post after less than a year. She will now work as chief of staff and spokeswoman for the First Lady, as Melania Trump explained on Twitter.
According to Fox News, Grisham is now the spokeswoman for Trump's election campaign, Kayleigh McEnany. Grisham said of her move that she was honored to serve both the President and the First Lady in this government.
With the exception of a few interviews with Trump's conservative broadcaster Fox News, Grisham has made very few public appearances. Nor did she hold any press conferences in the room provided for this in the White House. In Trump's daily appearances there on the subject of corona virus, she also recently played no publicly recognizable role. Grisham has often stressed that the President speaks best for himself.
According to the US news channel CNN, Grisham's departure was related to the replacement of Trump's chief of staff. There, former MP Mark Meadows recently replaced Mick Mulvaney.
Grisham had succeeded Sarah Sanders as Trump's spokeswoman last June. Previously, she had worked in the same role for Melania Trump (49).
Grisham is originally from Arizona and has two sons. It has long been part of Trump's environment. She joined his campaign team in 2015, making her one of the few employees who could keep up from the early days. She is considered extremely loyal.
