A record donation result of 16,000 euros came together at this year's Christmas Hill in Ottenhofen.

Ottenhofen - bright children's eyes are the best reward for Anni and Peter Huber. Year after year, the lively couple delights visitors with the Christmas lights of their home and garden on Christmas Hill in Ottenhofen in the Advent season. From the first Advent to Epiphany, the Hubers wishful lice, reindeer, candy canes and much more are bustling - often rounded off with a colorful program and free serving of mulled wine and children's punch on the weekends. All donations go to the parent initiative Intern 3 at Dr. from Haunerschen Children's Hospital Munich.

This season, however, the Hubers shortened the popular event, which only took place until December 29. The couple visited daughter Daniela in Australia in January. Nevertheless, a record donation result came together. The two presented EUR 16 005 to Elke Gleiß, who takes care of the donations and is a welcome guest at the Hubers. "It is amazing what people do and what their response is," said the Hubers.

Participation in the program at Christmas Hill has become very popular. This is how the Free Evangelical Community had its first public appearance at the Hubers.

Married couple should receive decorations for voluntary work

This commitment was not hidden from politics either. District Minister Martin Bayerstorfer will award the Hubers the badge of honor for the services of women and men working on behalf of Prime Minister Markus Söder. Because of the Corona crisis, the award had to be canceled for the time being. Of course the Hubers hope that the situation will relax again and that everyone will overcome the crisis in a healthy and strengthened manner.

The situation was not so dramatic when the check was handed over to Gleiß. And nobody knew anything about the pandemic at Christmas Hill itself. The Hubers are happy to look back on their event and many good conversations. “There are so many nice people in this world, and apparently everyone comes to us. This time we poured 240 liters of mulled wine and 190 liters of children's punch, ”says Peter Huber.

He also keeps an exact record of the donations made so far. The Hubers had started in the Christmas season 2004/05 with 2262 euros. Anni and Peter Huber collected a total of 137,366 euros in donations. "We also know exactly why we do it. We have healthy children and grandchildren, ”they say.
