Young people and folk music - does that still go together today? "Zamgricht", an association of young musicians from the district, shows how well this works.

  • Six young musicians from the Dachau district have founded a Tanzlmusi group.
  • With “Zamgricht” the Bavarian tradition is to be strengthened again.
  • Josef Höckmayr is the initiator of the group.

Landkreis - Josef Höckmayr from Großberghofen, Anna Reichlmair from Indersdorf, Johannes Loibl from Unterweikertshofen, Anna Patzelt from Rumeltshausen, Stephanie Kleesattel from Sielenbach and Anton Burghart from Guggenberg are the founders of "Zamgricht", who have dedicated themselves to three main goals: traditional dress, dance and Music. Dress in the sense of beautiful and traditional and dress up properly, with appropriate hairstyles and headgear. Creating dance in the sense of possibilities for fans of Bavarian dances who want to dance happily and informally to modern and traditional dance music or to the music of the Upper Carniola without having practiced figure dances. The third point comes into play: the music.

Initiator Josef Höckmayr emphasizes that all of these topics should particularly appeal to young people. As a musician and fan of folk music, he was always drawn to events in the south of Munich. And then he heard and experienced exactly what he now wants to bring back to life or to re-establish in the Dachau district. Because the Tanzlmusi is not really a tradition in the Dachau district, as Höckmayr explains.

Dance music in the district of Dachau: Josef Höckmayr looked for five other comrades-in-arms

But the 24-year old construction manager from Großberghofen was not the only one who was enthusiastic about the music. The exuberant atmosphere at the various festivals and events in the south of Munich, the enthusiasm for dancing, the young audience and the informal atmosphere - "that was really cool", enthuses the Großberghofer. “You ask yourself to dance and talk to each other. That has become rather unusual in the district, ”the musician regrets. Höckmayer thought that something like this can also work in the Dachau district. He looked for five colleagues and started to realize his dream.

“Zamgricht” was founded in mid-December 2019. And the first event in spring hit like a bomb. At the beginning of the year it was said in the completely sold-out hall in the Wackerl inn in Arnzell, and 160 guests, including 120 young people, came to dance and celebrate together. The "Rienstal Musi", in which Höckmayr himself plays the Styrian harmonica, and "Grod No" played alternately. The mixture of traditional dance music with its harmonious sounds and the brisk Oberkrainer pieces was perfectly received. In the run-up to the evening, the organizers had offered a dance course for Boarian, polka and waltz, which was also fully booked.

Pub tour of "Zamgricht" was postponed due to Corona

After the first dance evening was so successful, the Kathreintanz in the Freudenhaus in Kleinberghofen should continue on November 21. Then the "Rienstal Musi" and the "Stoabuckl Musi" will alternately create the right atmosphere. The planned inn tour through and around the Dachau district in April and May was postponed for the first time because of the corona pandemic.

Josef Höckmayr and his colleagues do not want to be the sole entertainer when it comes to modern folk music and dance evenings. Rather, they want to motivate the clubs and organizers in the district to take up the idea. Be it at a wine or boy festival or at the combine harvester ball: instead of standard events with a DJ, young folk music groups should play again. Instead of jeans and a T-shirt, people should wear traditional clothes, and instead of just standing around and drinking, young people should dance and talk to each other. That is the heartfelt wish of the six young founders of "Zamgricht".

Music group "Zamgricht" wants to organize itself as an association

Anyone who wants to take part in “Zamgricht” should “just come to events,” explains Höckmayr, the provider of the ideas. The group, which would soon like to organize itself as an association, does not initially accept members. "Nowadays, many don't want to commit themselves anymore, and neither should we have to pay a contribution," the 24-year-old explains the decision. But there should be the possibility to buy badges at dance events for a small fee. You can then use it to demonstrate your affiliation.

If you want to get in touch with "Zamgricht", you can do this on the social networks either at www.facebook.com/zamgricht or www.instagram.com/zamgricht. Likewise, those responsible look forward to suggestions for possible locations.
