Former US Vice President and candidate for the upcoming Democratic presidential election, Joe Biden, has invited supporters of his Democratic opponent, Senator Bernie Sanders, to join him to ensure that President Donald Trump is defeated on November 3.
"I realize that I have to win your votes, and I know that it may take time ... I hope you will join us ... we need you," Biden was quoted as saying in a tweet by the French press agency.
Although Sanders acknowledged earlier today that Biden would be the candidate chosen by Democrats to confront Trump in the presidential election, he announced that he would run in the remaining primaries with the goal of gathering the largest number of delegates, allowing him to "exert a significant influence on the party program" during the Democratic Party conference in Next August.
"Together, we will go forward to defeat Trump, the most dangerous president in modern American history," he said in an Internet transmission speech delivered from his home in Burlington, Vermont.
Sanders, an independent senator-elect from Vermont, lost the Democratic primary in the run-up to Hillary Clinton in 2016.
