Necessity makes you inventive: Many restaurateurs try to get through the corona crisis with delivery service and an alternative office.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - Make the best of it: This applies to many things in the corona crisis, in which public life is reduced to a minimum - both privately and professionally. Whoever can, works in the home office. If you can't do that, you have to grit your teeth and hold on. This applies particularly to hotel operators and landlords.

In the dining room at Humplbräu on Wolfratshauser Marktstrasse, tables and chairs were cleared aside. Where the waitresses normally serve food, work is done diligently. Among other things, the wooden cladding gets a new glaze. "We use the time to renovate our rooms," explains landlady Ursula Fagner.

“At the beginning we had a few days closed,” says the 56-year-old, looking back, “but then we opened it again. After all, that's what we're passionate about. ”By this, Fagner means being there for the Wolfratshausers and showing presence. "We will not be forgotten and it is good for our morale," she admits.

The economy is still closed. But the Humplbräu still houses a few craftsmen and, like many other inns, offers takeaway food. In the evening, Junior Chef Benedikt Fagner and a cook stand by the stove, prepare burgers, schnitzel and much more. The pre-ordered food is packaged in environmentally friendly bamboo trays. The pickup is "corona-friendly". Customers go in to the front door and out the back in the courtyard. Fagner admits that the income from the to-go business is just a drop in the bucket. The hotel and inn have over 20 employees, the house is large and old. "We have high monthly fixed costs."

The current situation also worries the Amodio family from Geretsried. Together with eleven employees, she runs the “Italy” on Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Straße. The Italian restaurant is currently also closed. But they still cook in the kitchen. Pizza, pasta and Co. are available to take away. "And we bring the food too," says Gabi Amodio. Waiters and children would help that everything went well. "We have good family cohesion."

But this business cannot be compared to catering for guests in the restaurant. "It's better than nothing," the businesswoman pragmatically says. Be thankful for everyone who calls. She gets sad when she thinks of the Easter holidays. Usually the restaurant is particularly well attended. "Everything is lost," says Amodio. "How long is that going to last?"

Johann Oberhauser from Eglingen also asks himself. The restaurateur has almost 50 employees. He currently lacks two thirds of his normal turnover. But thanks to the butcher shop, which is connected to the hotel and the inn, at least a little money comes in. There the payment machine in the truest sense of the word, which was bought three years ago for hygienic reasons, is now paying off. "It works well," says Oberhauser. "I also ordered a disinfection dispenser, but the delivery is dragging on." Oberhauser also offers takeaway food - and preserves. "We are now producing canned goods such as lamb stew and turkey in curry."

Most of the hotel rooms at Oberhauser are currently unused. "We have a few workers there," says the Eglinger. During the day, he now offers his rooms as an office alternative for a flat rate. The internet connection is good and you can work there in peace. "And if you want, we will also provide you with food."
