[Fatal accident] 26-year-old male passerby on Tai Po Highway was killed by a private car and a male driver was arrested for dangerous driving

At about 10:00 tonight (9th), a 26-year-old male passer-by crossed the road at the pedestrian crossing when a 26-year-old male passer-by crossed the road at the Sha Tin Ling section of Tai Po Highway. The car stopped about 40 meters before it rushed. The male passer-by was seriously injured in a coma and was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital. After rescue, he died. According to on-site news, the accident occurred while crossing the road after parking in a nearby parking lot. After the incident, the front of the private car and the roof windshield were severely damaged. The injured shoes, insoles, watches and a large pool of blood were left at the scene. The 27-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

Police said that the incident occurred at 9:53 pm on Thursday (9th) when a 27-year-old man was driving a private car along the Tai Po Highway-Sha Tin Ling section towards Kowloon. When approaching the Kowloon Reservoir, it was reported to have crashed To the 26-year-old man who was crossing the road. The 26-year-old man was seriously injured in several places. He was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment in a coma. He was certified dead at 12.40 am today (10th).

A 22-year-old female passenger in the private car was also injured and was consciously taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The driver of the private car was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death, and is being detained for investigation. The Special Investigation Team of the Traffic Department of West Kowloon Region is investigating the case.
