Deliveroo and Uber Eats deliver French confined races

2020-04-12T14:19:06.380Z

Several supermarket chains have taken advantage of the containment to develop partnerships with leaders in home meal delivery.

The big brands - Carrefour, Franprix, Monop '(Monoprix), and Casino - did not lose their sense of trade during this epidemic period. For several days, Carrefour and Casino have been delivering races via Uber Eats, while Franprix and the Monop 'stores have also teamed up with Deliveroo to support the French in fresh and essential products.

" The special barbecue baskets work very well, " says Monoprix's communications director, at Le Figaro . 63% of French people are confined to houses. Since April 6, Monoprix (Goupe Casino) has offered via 38 Monop 'shops - across 15 cities in France (Nice, Cannes, Reims, Toulouse ...) 80 selected items. 50 references are sold individually and 30 in the form of prepared baskets: brunch, aperitif, fruit and vegetables ... sold between 13 and 40 euros.

The prices are " slightly " increased to take into account the delivery costs collected by the Deliveroo platform and the guaranteed orders " in less than 30 minutes and 7 days a week ", according to the opening hours in normal times. This timely partnership was already in preparation: "we have accelerated the collaboration," confirms the brand.

On the Carrefour side, around fifteen convenience stores have been available on the Uber Eats app since April 6 as well. The service is limited for the moment to Paris and its small crown (three stores in Courbevoie, Issy-les-Moulineaux and Puteaux). The products are restricted to daily food shopping, as well as hygiene and maintenance. For people who do not have the application, it is also possible to order by phone, using a dedicated number. The two allies aim to extend this system to the rest of France " within the next few weeks " and to perpetuate the post-containment service.

Containment Survival Kit

The Géant Casino and Casino Supermarkets banners were the first to offer this delivery service via Uber Eats. Since April 3, they have been operational in 17 major French cities (Angers, Paris, Dijon, Grenoble, Marseille, Nîmes ...) and offer two types of baskets: a " multivitamin ", made up of French fruits and vegetables, at 25 euros, and a basket " the essentials ", consisting of everyday groceries as well as toilet paper. A kind of containment survival kit.

Franprix (Casino group) already collaborated with Deliveroo before the era of containment and adapted to containment by also offering thematic baskets. The products sold individually are limited to three per order for one-liter bottles, and to five units for other products (rice, pasta ...). The group has added to the hundred references already available, frozen products, cleaning products and even hygiene products for babies.

The uberization of the delivery profession by the two giants Deliveroo and Uber Eats is the subject of sharp criticism and procedures in many countries where they are established. Working conditions, all the more castigated at the moment due to exposure to the virus, are closely scrutinized by unions and health measures, expected at the turn. These partnerships come at a time when several groups of deliverers have requested the invocation of the right of withdrawal and compensation.

The two giants of FoodTech claim to have implemented strict sanitary procedures in accordance with the guide of good practices published by the government in order to ensure contactless deliveries, on the landing or at the foot of a building.
