LONDON-SANA, the Corona Virus pandemic has revealed the fragility of inter-country relations between EU member states updated

London-Sana

The Corona virus pandemic revealed the fragility of the inter-relations between the European Union member states, causing a loud shock within the economic bloc, after many of its countries witnessed a steady rise in the number of infections and deaths caused by the deadly virus, especially in Italy and Spain, which threatens cracks in the structure of that union.

The Bruges Research Center, which studies the restructuring of Britain's relationship with the European Union and other European countries and is based in London, has resolved the controversy in this regard, describing European Union actions in the face of the failed Corona crisis.

Center Director Robert Odles, in an interview with the British newspaper "Daily Express" mocked these measures, saying that the union's procedures showed its large bureaucracy, calling for the nation-state to be the most important political institution in European political life, noting that this pandemic revealed "weaknesses" of the European Union And that led to the collapse of many of his basic ideas and principles.

Odels made it clear that nation-states in Europe must take countermeasures because only they possess the expertise, ethical, legal, and technical resources needed to act in such circumstances, noting that union measures have failed to help fight the pandemic or contain it in the changing conditions of its countries, criticizing the slow pace of the union in facing Consequences of an outbreak and response to it.

The whole idea of the European Union collapsed, according to Odels, who indicated that one of the main things in it is the freedom of movement of people, which was restricted as a result of the pandemic, and that his country imposed border controls from one side to prevent the spread of the disease inside it until the union became acting as it had nothing to do with the issue and that it also became inconsistent with one of the ideals The main supreme of the union itself.

Olds went on to consider that the union posed a "health threat in a time of epidemics where his ideas collapsed and he did not do anything productive in the crisis."

On the false slogans of solidarity, the director of the European Research Center criticized the echoing of European Union officials slogans of solidarity between his various countries at a time when it was revealed that this slogan is not embodied in the reality of the situation and they do not mean that the larger countries like Germany are helping countries that have experienced crises like Greece.

"We have never seen any solidarity from the rich countries that were not severely affected by the Corona crisis, as they did not provide any support to Italy," he said.

Olds concluded that the union was "very slow" and that it also "failed" and revealed that it could not take any action to deal with crises, including health.

The head of the European Union’s Scientific Research Council Mauro Ferrari resigned from his post three months after taking office to protest the rejection of the European Commission, the European Union’s executive body, and his plan to fight the epidemic and said he lost faith in the system in place after he was unable to develop a special program to combat the Corona virus .

The leader of the French National Rally Party, Marine Le Pen, in turn confirmed on April 3 that the Corona pandemic crisis showed the weakness of the European Union and its inability to carry out its tasks, stressing that the Union's actions were harmful in dealing with the pandemic.
