The Chinese economy has been hit hard by the corona virus. The export figures for March are already milder than in the previous months.

Beijing (dpa) - As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, China's exports fell again in March. The decline was still significant with a minus of 6.6 percent compared to the previous year. However, the minus was no longer as great as in January and February, when exports slumped by 17.2 percent.

Because of the Chinese New Year, the two months are counted as a common period. According to data from the Beijing Statistics Office, imports have recently shown a clear stabilization: after a minus of four percent in the first two months of the year, they declined by only 0.9 percent in US dollars in March.

While exports reached $ 185.15 billion in March, imports were $ 165.25 billion.

The stringent measures against the spread of the corona virus had practically brought the Chinese economy to a standstill since the end of January. The effects were particularly noticeable in February. For weeks, factories and companies have been slowly resuming work.
