This is the lowest number of infections reported in the country since March 17 • For the first time in two months: a single-digit number of corona infection cases in South Korea

The Chinese National Health Commission reported on Sunday that 16 people were found to be new and verified carriers of the Corona virus as of last Saturday. This is the lowest number of infections reported in the country since March 17, and after a day earlier on Friday, 27 new patients were diagnosed with the virus.

At the same time, authorities in China have reported that out of those 16 new cases, 9 are imported patients, i.e. patients who came from outside the country. Here, too, this is an achievement for Chinese, who say that the nine imported patients is the lowest figure since March 13, when just a day earlier, there were 17 imported patients.

Also in South Korea - a single-digit number of contractors

Positive news in the fight against the Corona virus also in South Korea: For the first time in two months, the country's health authorities today reported a single-digit number of verified cases of the Corona virus. The state reports eight new coronavirus-confirmed patients, with the last time they reported a single-digit daily increase occurred on February 18.

According to the South Korean Center for Infectious Disease Control, of those eight newly identified cases in South Korea, five are imported patients. Currently, the number of hospitalized patients is 10,661, and the number of victims who die from the virus is 234. 

Moon Jay-in, president of South Korea, said today that South Korea's progress in combating the outbreak and spread of the country's corona virus is a source of hope for other countries, adding that "the government will prepare for a new routine and new world order" after the corona.

Healing, sticking again and catching up?

Medical officials from the South Korea Infectious Disease Control Center continue to investigate why 163 people who recovered from the corona virus were tested and found to be positive in testing for the corona virus. Similar events have already been documented in China, which was known to be the focus of the outbreak of the Corona virus, where patients who recovered from the Corona were reported to have been subsequently exposed to the virus, although no official data were released.

Last Friday, the Center for Infectious Disease Control in Korea reported that out of 7,829 people who recovered from the corona virus, 2.1 percent were re-tested and found to be positive for corona, a relatively low figure, although the number of people re-tested for the corona virus after they recovered is unclear.

Deputy Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Control of South Korea, Kwon John-Wook, said that so far there is no indication that those patients who are tested and found to be positive for the corona virus are infectious. He said that although of those 2.1 percent who recovered and found positive again, 44 percent showed mild illness symptoms. Later, he said there was still much to learn about the virus, including the issue of the natural vaccine the body is developing against, stressing that "this is a very difficult and challenging enemy."
