The wife of the founder of "Salvation Union" told of the first conversation with Eli: "We danced and made a living" • He will return on the plane of the Adelson family to Israel: "Huge excitement"

For three weeks, Eli Bir, president and founder of the United Union Rescue, was lying in a Florida hospital with his predicament, after contracting the corona virus. He was one of the first Israeli patients to contract the virus, and despite his young age, 46, and the fact that he does not suffer from background illnesses, his condition deteriorated rapidly. He was breathed and put to sleep, and his family members in Israel sometimes found it difficult to maintain optimism, remotely following his condition. Tomorrow (Tuesday), almost imperceptibly, he will return to Israel on the plane of the Adelson family, healthy and intact.

"We're really excited, it's hard to describe the feeling, it's just not normal," his wife, Gitty Bir, tells Israel Today. "We didn't see him for four months because this time the flight was very long - he was in India, Washington, England and elsewhere. It was just a nightmare."

Birr was hospitalized for weeks, with family members remotely monitoring his health through doctors. "There were days when I was told that his situation is really difficult. Every day the newspaper sees the number of the dead and it is very scary, the name will keep. We are a very optimistic family so we continued to hope and pray.

About two weeks ago, Dr. Miriam Adelson, publisher of Israel Today, wrote a special column addressing Eli Bir's wonderful story and recovery. "We need to focus on the miracles that happen during this period, to draw strength from them and to ask what we want to take from this experience next. Along with the thousands of people infected with the disease, there are a growing number of recoverers. Cheerleader".

"I read the column and I was so excited, so I sent her a message in Wattsap where I thanked her," Gitty says. "In response, she immediately offered me to join him, which unfortunately was not possible due to restrictions on flights abroad and the risk. I understood from her that she was in contact with the doctors and even got my husband the antibody from a donor to help him get well. She is a special woman. "

On the second Passover holiday, Bir spoke for the first time with her husband, after weeks of uncertainty and genuine concern for his life. "He recognized me and the kids, it was very exciting. We danced, turned on music and made our lives. It was completely crazy. It took him a while to understand what happened, that the world was closing and people were walking around with masks and gloves, and that there were no planes or hotels. "He came from another world. He thought he was asleep for two days, he had no idea. We had to tell him that people he knew had died as a result of the virus."

Birr completely healed the virus and even developed antibodies himself, and tonight at 8:00 pm, he will board the Adelson family plane on his way back to Israel. Ben-Gurion Airport will be waiting for his excited family tomorrow (Tuesday), expecting to see the father of the family after hanging between life and death. "I don't know what to say to him when I meet him. I'm so excited. I'm mentally preparing to be on the track. I'm wearing a rescue union so I'll arrive with the ambulance. We really look forward to the moment the house arrives. I bought him all the things he loves."
