Home office, emergency staffing and just a few courses: the exit restrictions affect the Bundeswehr on Lake Starnberg.
Pöcking / Feldafing - Emptiness is also prevalent these days in the Bundeswehr School of Information Technology in Pöcking and Feldafing. There is only one emergency crew in the barracks - the commander and contact person from individual inspections. Press officer Meik Rosenberger will inform Starnberg Mercury of this upon request. "Most of us are in the home office too," he says. Incidentally, this also applies to Rosenberger himself.
The information technology school usually offers 136 different courses. Armed forces IT specialists are trained in Pöcking and Feldafing. The soldiers learn to operate complex computer networks as well as satellite or radio systems. According to Rosenberger, only two types of courses are currently taking into account the hygiene requirements. On the one hand, the "mission-relevant" - for example, for soldiers who need to be prepared for a mission abroad. And the "career law", as the press officer calls it - "so that people can be transported on time". Nevertheless, it could happen in these times that one or the other Bundeswehr career progressed somewhat more slowly.
The school is gradually building up digital learning. "That will certainly increase after Corona," suspects Rosenberger. By the way: Bundeswehr soldiers from Lake Starnberg are also on call for the nationwide "Helping Hands" relief campaign.
