They have long been forgotten in official accounts. Until March 26, the daily report of Public Health France only reported deaths recorded in the hospital of patients tested positive for coronavirus. However, the directors of retirement homes never ceased to warn of the dramatic situation in their establishments.

The INSEE figures today seem to prove them right. With the necessary precautions: these statistics relate to deaths from all causes occurring in France between March 1 and April 6, 2020, and Ehpad, taking into account the vulnerable profile of their residents, still record significant death rates.
