(CNN Spanish) - Germany would be the first country in Europe to resume professional soccer. May 9 has been the date set by the German Football League (DFL), awaiting the latest decision by the government of that country.

At a press conference, DFL President Christian Seifert confirmed that they are ready to resume competition but depend on government endorsement.
“The Bundesliga is ready to resume, either on May 9 or at a later date. It is not in our hands if or when we return. We have several options. For us what is decisive is what the politicians will decide. It is not for us to decide when, "he added.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet with the country's 16 regional leaders on April 30 to discuss the restrictions on social distancing that are in place across the country until Sunday, May 3.

The conditions to resume football

The Bundesliga is one of the top five leagues in European football alongside; La Liga (Spain), Premier League (England), Serie A (Italy) and Ligue 1 (France). It is one of those that generates the most money and the first to make public a plan for its resumption.

These are the conditions that the Germans have proposed:

-A maximum of 213 people would be allowed inside a stadium, 98 on the playing field and 115 in the stands, while another 109 people, including security personnel, would be outside the venues.
-Fans will not be allowed in or around the stadium.
-Clinical studies will be carried out with five laboratories, to guarantee adequate tests to detect the covid-19 coronavirus among the players.
-Players will be regularly monitored by a designated health and team official. If a player becomes infected, it will be reported immediately, but the team will not be quarantined.
