New York State Governor Andrew Como revealed today that strains of the emerging coronaviruses virus entered the state from Europe and not from China.
Como said at a press conference today that the travel restrictions imposed by US President Donald Trump came too late and therefore did not stop the spread of the disease in the states of America.
Como cited research by Northeastern University that indicated that the virus had transmitted to an estimated more than ten thousand residents of New York State when the state discovered the first confirmed infection, adding that he believed Italy was the likely source of the disease.
Como indicated that 422 people had died in New York State due to their condition "Covid 19" during the past 24 hours.
In Italy, the Civil Protection Agency said that the number of new cases of corona virus in the country reached 420 today, the lowest daily death toll since March 19, but that the number of infections reached 3021, which is higher than yesterday's number of 2646.
The agency reported that the death toll since the emergence of the disease in Italy on February 21 amounted to 25,969 deaths, which is the second largest number in the world after the United States, while the number of confirmed cases reached 192,994 cases, which is the third in the world after both the United States and Spain.
For its part, the Anti-Corona Virus Operations Center in Moscow announced that 41 new deaths were recorded within 24 hours, at a record rate of the daily death toll in the Russian capital so far.
On the Arab level, the Moroccan Ministry of Health announced today that it recorded 3 deaths and 190 new infections with the Corona Virus during the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 158 and infections to 3758 cases.
The recorded figures indicate a decrease in the number of deaths and a rise in injuries compared to yesterday, in which 122 injuries and 6 deaths were announced, while the health authorities registered 30 new recovery cases, bringing the total number of those recovering to 486.
For its part, the Algerian health authorities announced today the registration of 8 deaths and 120 new cases of coronavirus throughout the country during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 415, while the total number of infections reached 3127 cases.
In Egypt, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the registration of 7 new deaths and 201 injuries during the past 24 hours.
To that, the World Health Organization announced that the number of confirmed cases of the virus in the African continent exceeded 27 thousand cases, while the infection caused the death of more than one thousand two hundred infected.
According to the World Health Statistics, the Republic of South Africa ranks first with 3953 injuries, followed by Egypt with 3659 injuries and Morocco with 3537 cases.
Algeria leads the continent in the number of deaths in Corona, with 407 cases recorded, and Egypt comes in second place 276, then Morocco 151 and South Africa 75.
