Classes in schools begin again on Monday. First only for the final classes. But in FOS / BOS they make up 60 percent of the students.

District - individual tables, half classes, break in the classroom, focus on the examination subjects, right-hand command in the aisles - students of final year classes have to adjust to this when they come back to school from Monday. "We are looking forward to it," explains Jens Baumgärtel, head of the technical and vocational high school (FOS / BOS) Erding. Even if the type of school is particularly challenging.

Not a small proportion, but 460 and thus 60 percent of the students will then be back in the house, according to him. "We have an enormous space requirement," explains Baumgärtel. But including the auditorium and the vocational school gym "we can do it".

Realschule Taufkirchen divides the classes

In order to keep the distances in the rooms, the 22 final classes at FOS / BOS are divided - this is how the other schools handle it. “How do we organize the daily routine so that the groups stay together?”, Is the challenge, according to Josef Hanslmaier. At the junior high school in Taufkirchen, 140 tenth graders will return to class on Monday. Six classes become twice as many there. “In their small groups, they are quarantined at home, so to speak,” says Hanslmaier.

The Q12 returns to high schools. In Dorfen there are 98 out of 964 students. "We will bring the students to school three days a week," reports director Markus Höß. Class times are different at every school. At FOS / BOS there is a morning block from 8 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. and afternoon lessons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Sometimes only four students per subject at the Dorfen Gymnasium

"In the examination subjects we will almost have the normal hourly table", Baumgärtel assures for the FOS / BOS. Now it is a matter of using the time very intensively. "Every teacher who leads a tenth class has to hold their lessons twice," reports Hanslmaier about the time every day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Realschule Taufkirchen.

This is even more complex at the Dorfen grammar school. Math, German and English courses are shared. But in other subjects, not every 12th grader graduates from high school. "Sometimes we only have four students," says Höß about history, bio or music. Writing the timetable was correspondingly complicated.

In terms of content, a lot is omitted - just exam preparation

At the Marie Pettenbeck School in Wartenberg, it was at least not completely empty in the past few weeks. "We always had emergency care," says Rector Michael Braun. Nevertheless, he is happy about more life in the house with 25 tenth and 55th graders. “We have a good situation because we have added the mobile reserves to the final classes,” says Braun. This means that, as in pre-Corona times, there is another teacher available for individualization. This system will now be maintained in presence mode with hours from 8 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. In terms of content, “there is a lot missing,” explains Braun. It is all about exam preparation.

A fair procedure for the final grades is also crucial. "Valid progress grades must be created," says Realschule director Hanslmaier. That means that the youngsters still have one or two tests ahead of them. But there is already the possibility to reduce the number of performance records somewhat. Important at the FOS / BOS: "The pupils can take voluntary substitute exams," reports Baumgärtel. With these tests, you can improve grades from the first half of the year, but you don't have to.

Return of all students in the FOS / BOS is not feasible

Keep your distance - this is not only true in the classrooms. "The students will go to the toilet one by one," says Höß for the Dorfen grammar school. "And you should go to the far right in the corridors." Corresponding signs and possibly markings on the floors would be attached these days.

"When more students come back, I see problems going to schools," says Braun. Here, 11 May is used as the key date, from which the pre-graduation classes may be on. At the Marie Pettenbeck School, that would be 14 more in addition to the twelve classes that are now divided.

That would be particularly serious at FOS / BOS. "We could not afford if the eleventh grades were added from May 11," says Baumgärtel. "That would go beyond the scope." Classroom instruction for all students is only possible after the final exams on June 23.
