Green leader Tina Lucka: Boldest dreams come true

2020-04-25T10:06:03.814Z

Soon members of the Greens will be represented in Pliening's municipal council for the first time. That is not the only success of the local association that was founded a year ago.

Soon members of the Greens will be represented in Pliening's municipal council for the first time. That is not the only success of the local association that was founded a year ago.

Pliening - Getting two candidates from the election list into the local council was a legitimate hope. "Four, those were my wildest hopes and dreams," says Tina Lucka. And exactly these have actually been fulfilled: The local association Pliening von Bündnis90 / Die Grünen, founded over a year ago, will be represented on the municipal council with four mandates from 1 May. The local president Lucka together with Margrit Pricha, Brigitte Freund and Gabriele Heigl. From a standing start, the Greens made it to the second strongest faction, after the CSU (eight councilors plus mayor Roland Frick). In third place is the initiative for pliening with three seats. The big loser is the SPD, which is shrinking from five to two councilors from now on. The new forum (two seats) and the Gelting electoral group (1) make up the body.

Pliening: Green second strongest faction

On Thursday, May 7th, the constituent meeting of the new Pliening council will take place in the community center. Tina Lucka is looking forward to it with a little excitement, as well as the work in the coming weeks and months. "I'm excited to see how the others react to us," says the 36-year-old project manager. The others, by that she means both the other parties and those who have been in the municipal council for a long time. "I hope that we will be taken seriously right from the start," says Tina Lucka. And not laughed at when questions arise about issues and decisions from the past that the new council members (not just those from the Greens) cannot know in concrete terms.

Incorporate and be taken seriously

The first weeks and months were for the Greens to familiarize themselves with and look at the work in the local council and administration, said Lucka. The Greens had not planned any concrete proposals right at the beginning of the new legislative period.

Many new faces in the local council

As of May, the municipal council of Pliening (20 members plus mayor) is younger and more female: some older members who have been in the local parliament for years, sometimes for decades, will no longer be there - either because they have not run again or because they have not been elected. Many younger people are moving up, for example Florian Bauer-Eberhart, Emmeran Königer jun. (both CSU) as well as Ludwig Huber (Gelting voters) and Anton Holzner (new forum).

Pliening municipal council: 10 women, 10 men

For the first time in Pliening's history, half of the municipal council is made up of women: the four Greens as well as Angelika Diefenthaler, Anni Wachinger, Verena Heigl (all CSU), Eva Strauss (SPD) as well as Doris Löffler and Beatrice Merk (both initiatives for Pliening). Even that would have been impossible for many Plieningeners to imagine in their wildest dreams.

Probably not even that there is ever a local Greens association in Pliening: it was founded a good year ago.
