New Crown Pneumonia │ Boeing Dream Transporter arrives in Hong Kong for the first time to transport medical supplies

2020-04-25T18:38:22.720Z

The epidemic is raging around the world, and medical supplies in many countries are also becoming tighter. At present, although the aviation industry has been affected by the customs and epidemic prevention measures, passenger transportation has almost stopped, but due to the transportation of medical supplies, the cargo plane has been busy. Some airlines even make use of the cargo cabin of passenger planes, and even tie up materials on the passenger seats as cargo planes. Aircraft manufacturer BOEING has provided three of them, Dreamlifter, a large transport aircraft that originally carried aircraft components, to transport coronavirus-related epidemic prevention materials. One of them flew to Hong Kong for the first time on Friday (April 25). It attracted more than one hundred air traffic fans to the airport to greet him. He witnessed this strange giant cargo plane landing on the runway of the "home ground" in Hong Kong .

According to foreign media reports, US President Trump announced in March this year that Boeing provided three 747-400LCF dream transport aircraft, hoping to transport large amounts of cargo with its oversized cargo compartment.

The Boeing 747-400LCF (Large Cargo Freighter) freighter, nicknamed "Dreamlifter" (Dreamlifter), was converted from the well-known 747 aircraft. There are currently 4 aircraft in total. The fuselage has a thicker diameter and is used to transport the fuselage and wing components of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner "Dreamliner". From Japan and Italy, the semi-finished products of the 787 aircraft are carried to the United States for final assembly. Its tail hatch also has a special design that can be opened 90 degrees laterally to facilitate unloading the entire 787 fuselage from behind. Unfortunately, since the Hong Kong International Airport does not have this special tool, the tailgate has not been opened in this special way after arriving in Hong Kong this time.

For this reason, Boeing's "Fantasy Transport Aircraft" has been infested only in Japan, the United States, Italy, and Taiwan, because the "Dream Transport Aircraft" is the modification and maintenance of EVA Air in Taiwan. Therefore, the "Dream Transporter" never arrived in Hong Kong, and this is the first time this time.

The aviation industry in Hong Kong had heard news of the arrival of the Dream Transport aircraft in Hong Kong earlier. The original scheduled date was April 20, but it was continuously delayed for some reason until about 7:30 a.m. on April 25, Hong Kong time. The strange giant cargo plane finally landed on the south runway of Hong Kong International Airport under the rain.

Although many aviation fans have already filmed the giant aircraft in Japan and Taiwan, this is the first time at the "home ground" of Hong Kong, so more than one hundred fans have arrived at the airport maintenance area and even climbed before sunrise. Go to the top of Shaluowan Hill and get ready for "Long Cannon". Due to the large number of people, security personnel at the airport were also present to maintain smooth traffic.

It is understood that the registration number of the cargo plane is N747BC, formerly known as Air China's 747-400 passenger aircraft, which is now operated by Atlas Air. The aircraft departed from Nagoya, Japan on April 25, arrived in Hong Kong from Nagoya, and left the scene at about 11 o'clock in the evening of the same day. It took flight 5Y4531 to Anchorage in the United States.
