Gilching - After weeks of compulsory break, the Gilching "One World Bazaar" opens its doors again for the first time on Monday. The volunteer operators Maria (81) and Fritz Nömayr (84) together with their sales team may face a real stress test. "We are afraid that there will be so much goods now that we cannot do it at all," says Maria Nömayr.

Anyone who has really mucked out their cellar in the face of a home-oriented corona break must not count on being able to unload countless boxes on Pollinger Straße next week. “We ask people to bring only small amounts in the first week. Only one box per person and really only flawless clean goods, ”appeals Maria Nömayr. After all, the Easter goods recently had to be brought back to the Gilching warehouse. The approximately 100 square meter storage area is almost completely full.

In addition, the "One World Bazaar" will not start in full week next week. Some of the 32 employees who are almost entirely recruited from retirees are cautious. "A few are stricken, they don't dare," says Maria Nömayr. Next week there will initially be only eight employees, who will alternate between morning and afternoon shifts. The opening hours are therefore limited to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday (9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

The approximately 120 square meter business area should only be open to prospective buyers, because according to the applicable regulation, only one customer is allowed to enter the shop area per 20 square meters. In order to still be able to accept the goods brought in by donors without being disturbed, the "One World Bazaar" wants to equip itself with a van that has been parked in front of the shop. "The goods brought are then immediately loaded," explains Nömayr, who used to accept donations regularly at the sales counter in the shop.

The question is what is practical - household items in particular are perennial favorites in the range. The “One World Bazaar”, however, does not have men's and children's clothing or encyclopedias. The voluntarily organized bazaar has always had no sales worries. “We could fill a department store, but that is not feasible. We are limited in terms of personnel and space, at a relatively high level. That is almost impossible to achieve, ”Nömayr summarizes the situation before Corona. In addition to the German Doctors, the Gilchingen mother-child house as well as women's or school projects in India and Bolivia also benefit from the income. Around 80 percent of sales proceeds will continue to flow to charitable projects.
