When New Yorkers learn to wash their clothes by hand

An unlikely consequence of the global health crisis, Americans are discovering the joys of laundry in the sink, thanks to the New York Times.


While in France, the radio stations repeat the Ifop study revealing that the hygiene of the French has decreased since the start of confinement (with only two out of three people who carry out a full and daily toilet), on the other side of the Atlantic, the site of the venerable New York Times offers a very detailed paper telling its readers how to wash their clothes by hand, How to handwash your clothes. In Manhattan apartments, few people have a private washing machine. At best, some buildings are equipped with a common room in the basement with machines available to the roommates. A trip to the laundromat is therefore part of the weekly chores of the vast majority of Big Apple residents.
