A son kills his father in the family home in Dormagen - and then dies himself after being shot by police officers. It is not yet clear what exactly happened.
Dormagen (dpa) - A 40-year-old is said to have killed his father in Dormagen (NRW) - and died a little later after being shot from a police weapon.
The events in the home of the son's parents will be intensively processed, said a spokesman for the prosecutor. Police officers involved were looked after by a psychosocial support service, it was said.
At first nothing was known about the background of the crime and a possible motive. The wife of the killed father and mother of the son survived the tragedy.
Important evidence suggests that the 74-year-old father was killed by his son, the prosecutor said. A murder commission has taken over the further investigation on suspicion of a homicide.
The police also investigated the firing of the shot. Police officers called to the parents' house on Saturday fired a shot at the 40-year-old he died of.
