The police caught and arrested a box thief in flagranti on Friday morning in Lenggries. Presumably it is a member of a Romanian thief gang that specializes in food containers.
The Tölz police are very covered about the case. Apparently it happened several times at the Lenggries supermarket alone that certain plastic crates for food were stolen in pallets for collection. The damage, the police say, totaled 14,500 euros.

The deposit boxes were also made available on Friday in the delivery zone of the market. Due to suspicious activity by the management and subsequent police surveillance, a police patrol was able to catch the perpetrator red-handed early in the morning. He had loaded around 20 boxes into his small truck when the police hit. The man is registered in the Munich area.

Similar reports in the police report say that similar acts are known throughout Germany. A supraregional planned and organized procedure is assumed. According to the operating company of the deposit containers, the nationwide damage is already at one million euros. The investigation is ongoing.
