Radio legend Ronan O'Rahilly dead: he wrote radio history 

Born in Ireland in 1940 , O'Rahilly discovered his love for music early on . He was the manager of several British pop musicians and tried to keep moving his clients forward. Therefore, he continuously sent records to the then large radio stations - without success.

However, because the BBC played little pop music and Radio Luxembourg demanded a lot of money in return , O'Rahilly had to do something else.

The businessman had a brilliant idea “I recorded the record but I can't get it to play. So we have to open a radio station . ”According to radioszene.de, this sentence is said to have written some British radio history.

1964 Ronan O'Rahilly founded then Radio Caroline - it was the first so-called pirate radio stations of Great Britain , so an illegally-operated transmitter, was for not broadcasting license. 

In the 1960s, these black channels were still at home on the high seas and so Radio Caroline also broadcast from a ship . The pirate stations at the time made a legal broadcast in favor of international waters.

Radio Caroline eventually became the UK's first private radio and was central to the development of pop music in the 1960s. The station is said to have decisively shaped the youth of that time.

Ronan O'Rahilly is dead: "Definitely someone who changed the world for the better." 

Now the revolutionary has died. O'Rahilly passed away on Monday 20th April at the age of 79 . There are many expressions of condolence on social media. For example, ex-bond actor George Lazenby writes that O'Rahilly had had a great influence on him early on. 

The English hypnotist and author Paul McKenna also says goodbye emotionally: "As a personal inspiration and dear friend, he is definitely someone who has changed the world for the better ." 

Recently, the radio scene shook two more death messages. Oasis mentor Pete Mitchell is dead and Stephen Clements also passed away recently. The moderator was only 47 years old.
