Shortly before Memorial Day began, "Israel Today" photographer Yossi Seliger documented how Ezuba had taken over a famous monument from the War of Independence. Thorns, an old wreath left in the place and even damage to the monument itself.

The Battle of Hill 69 was one of the more familiar battles of the War of Independence. On the night of June 9 - 10, 1949, a month before the end of the war, an attempt was made to recapture buds, but the Egyptian 51st Battalion was discovered by the Egyptians, and had to retreat to Hill 69. , And the company commander ordered a withdrawal.

In no time, the Egyptian force occupied the hill but stopped as it advanced toward Beer Tuvia. Twenty fighters were killed in the battle and many others were wounded. Some of the fighters were taken about two weeks. Following the battle, the brigade commander ousted the entire battalion's chain of command.

Last Friday, "Israel Today" photographer arrived at the monument and found that the desert had taken over the place. Probably in part because of the Corona virus, which made it impossible to reach and treat the place. In the absence of care, the spikes took over the monument, and in one of the places some of the monument was removed. An old wreath of flowers that was placed on the site remains as it has long been harvested.
