Berlin (dpa) - In Germany, more than 156,000 infections with the corona virus had been registered by Monday afternoon (previous day at 4:15 p.m .: more than 155,100 infections).

At least 5817 people infected with the pathogen Sars-CoV-2 have reportedly died nationwide so far (previous day at 4.15 p.m .: 5720). This is the result of an evaluation by the German Press Agency, which takes into account the latest figures from the federal states.

According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of reproductions as of Sunday was 0.9 as in the previous days. This means that on average almost every infected person infects another person and the number of new cases decreases slightly.

According to RKI estimates, around 114,500 (previous day: 112,000) people survived the infection in Germany. As for other countries, experts also expect a high number of unreported cases in Germany.

According to the statistics of the federal states, Bavaria has particularly high numbers of registered infections with more than 41,400 documented cases and at least 1636 deaths, North Rhine-Westphalia with more than 31,800 cases and at least 1131 deaths and Baden-Württemberg with more than 31,000 confirmed cases and at least 1249 deaths . The time when a new daily status is reported varies from state to state.

Based on 100,000 inhabitants, Bavaria has the highest number of infections with a value of 316.7. The national average was 187.6. However, the number of tests performed per 100,000 inhabitants varies in the federal states.
