(CNN Spanish) -  Filmmakers who could not premiere their productions at film festivals such as Cannes, Venice or Berlin due to cancellations due to the coronavirus could see streaming their best ally.

This Monday Tribeca Entertainment and YouTube announced the “We Are One: A Global Film Festival”, a 10-day event that brings together 20 of the world's most recognized film festivals.

From May 29 to June 7, moviegoers worldwide will be able to enjoy completely free international films presented exclusively on YouTube.

The exhibition will include selections to festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), San Sebastián International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival , among others.

“The core of the DNA of film festivals is the belief that artists and creators have the power to unite people and create meaningful connections during a time when the world needs it most. Through We Are One: A Global Film Festival , the public will not only be able to take a look at different cultures through a new lens, but will also be able to support local communities by donating directly to organizations that help in relief efforts for those affected by covid-19, "Tribeca Entertainment and YouTube said in a statement.

The funds raised at this event will go to the World Health Organization (WHO) and local aid organizations in different regions of the world.

According to the organizers, the programming of this festival will feature short and feature films, documentaries, music, comedy and talks.

The specific programming of the sample is not yet known.

This is not the first charity festival to be organized to benefit organizations fighting coronavirus. The WHO together with Global Citizen, for example, held the #TogetheratHome music festival that included the participation of a diversity of artists led by Lady Gaga.

In March, the Fox channel presented the "iHeart Radio Living Room Concert for America", whose donations benefited non-profit organizations such as Feeding America.

That same month, La Liga Santander organized "La Liga Santander Fest", a charity event that brought together singers and footballers to raise funds for health workers in Spain.

The streaming format  is an important change for festivals like Cannes, which in the past has shown some reluctance to participate in productions made for streaming companies like Netflix.

One of those films that did not participate in Cannes was the Oscar winner “Roma” who did triumph in other festivals such as the one in Venice where its director, the Mexican Alfonso Cuarón, won the most prestigious award for “La Mostra”, the lion of gold.

The Cannes Film Festival, which like others postponed its 2020 edition, said in a statement that they were exploring other ways for the 73rd edition to take place.
