Ligue 1 suspended in France 0:22
(CNN Spanish) - South American figures Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Ángel Di María, among others, will not be able to finish the football season in France due to the pandemic and the latest dispositions of the Government of that country.
In his speech to the National Assembly, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said that events that gather more than 5,000 participants cannot take place before September.
Ligue 1 planned to restart its activities the second week of May and is the first of the top five in Europe to cancel its season.
League 1 will now have to decide how the championship, promotion, relegation and clubs will go to the next European competitions.
With 28 dates played, Paris Saint-Germain is the leader in the table with 68 points, and one less game, followed by Marseille, Rennes and Lille.
The first three have at the moment, for sporting merit, their classification assured to the UEFA Champions League, while Lille has its place in the Europa League.
