(CNN Spanish) - Former British soccer player and sportscaster Michael Robinson has died after battling cancer, it was announced on Tuesday.
His death was announced on his official Twitter account.
With tremendous sadness we inform you of Michael's death. It leaves us with a great emptiness, but also countless memories, full of the same love that you have shown him. We will be eternally grateful to you for making this man SO HAPPY, he never walked alone. Thank you

His last publication was on April 21 where he wrote that he “was still fighting” and where he encouraged everyone during the time of confinement for covid-19.
In 2018, Robinson made public that he suffered from advanced melanoma with metastases, during a radio program in Spain.
As a footballer, he played for five English clubs: Preston North End, Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Queen Park Rangers.
It was in Liverpool that he achieved fame and glory by triumphing in the European Champions League in 1984.
At the end of his career he made a leap to continental Europe and played for two seasons at Osasuna in Pamplona, before retiring from active football.
After finishing his career as a soccer player, he ventured as a soccer commentator in Spanish. He presented sports reports on his "Robinson Report" program.
