Heating by bike over forest paths: Especially now, when you are supposed to do sports near Corona, the trails are well frequented - also an illegal one. Now there was a fatal accident.

  • An illegal mountain bike trail has emerged in a forest area near Fürstenfeldbruck .
  • The athletes destroy flora and fauna in the nature reserve .
  • Two serious accidents have already occurred, one of which was fatal.

Fürstenfeldbruck - After a serious fall in the forest near Fürstenfeldbruck , a 69-year-old mountain biker died in early April . He was in an area with unauthorized jumps and obstacles. The responsible tenant has been pointing out the dangers for a long time. However, the so-called bike park was not dismantled .

Fürstenfeldbruck: Mountain bikers build their own path

On beautiful days, up to 40 cyclists romp on the slope in the forest above Fürstenfeldbruck, says Jäger Hartwig Görtler. Some of them have apparently lent a hand to make the steep slope even more attractive for mountain bikers . They have built ski jumps, built bridges and piled up landing hills.

The bike park even made it onto the Internet. In several mountain bike forums, athletes share their experiences on the site and share photos. There is also a map of where the area can be found. Hunting tenant Görtler has been watching the goings on for a long time. And for just as long he feared that something would happen there. For this reason, he already informed the district office in a letter in September 2019 about the illegal buildings. From the point of view of the 47-year-old, the district authority is responsible. After all, the area is a protected landscape area .

Illegal course in the forest in Fürstenfeldbruck: nature is also at risk

In the letter, the hunter describes the problems that the fun area, which has grown to one hectare, brings with it. "The course is used all year round, particularly ambitious athletes even use it at night." The area is an important retreat for forest animals, especially for deer and wild boar.

Görtler even understands the athletes. The hunter used to compete in mountain bike competitions. "It's just fun, I know that," he says. That's why he always tries to talk to the cyclists . He also asks for an understanding of the concerns of nature and hunting.

Fürstenfeldbruck - Jäger complains: Illegal MTB course destroys nature

He could no longer go stalking there because people were out and about in the area at all times of the day. The game would also avoid the area. And in the area with the descents, nothing would grow for years. Hartwig Görtler does not know who exactly owns the terrain in the forest. There are around 600 different owners in his area. That is why he turned to the district office with reference to the landscape protection area .

The authority confirms this. But she sees the landowner as a duty. "It was agreed with the owner of the forest property that the obstacles should be removed for reasons of nature conservation ," reports the office.

Illegal bike trail in the forest: Another serious accident

This is too late for the cyclist who has had an accident. And almost another mountain biker would have fallen victim to the bike park . Because on Easter Saturday there was another serious accident in exactly the same forest. A 60-year-old was there with his son. He also drove downhill, jumped over a ramp and got stuck on a root with his front wheel.

The son had to watch the father fall. He immediately informed the emergency doctor. The 60-year-old was then seriously injured and flown to a Munich clinic by helicopter and was saved. Now the criminal investigation is investigating.

Elsewhere, cycling accidents have increased significantly since the initial restrictions. So there was another serious fall in the Mühltal (district of Starnberg). And mountain bikers violate the nature conservation law on some tours.
