In the background of last month's reports on negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding prisoner exchanges Last week, the POW's and missing persons coordinator in the Prime Minister's Office, Yaron Blum, spoke with the Goldin and Saul families and updated them that contacts were being held between Israel and Hamas on the return of the missing.

Following the evening's publications from the Goldin family, it was stated: "There is an opportunity to return Hamas to our son Hadar and Sgt. Oron Saul and the civilians of Mengistu and Aside. Missing the opportunity now is a national irresponsibility. "The family also reported that prisoner and missing coordinator, Yaron Blum, is having an update conversation about the contacts.

Last Thursday, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Ahbar reported that elements in the Gaza Strip and in Israel also believe that the establishment of the unity government is reinforcing this trend. The Hamas terrorist report also reported that the Egyptian mediator had expressed his intention to Hamas to release four Gaza doctors who had been in detention for about a year and a half in Egypt.

Egyptian sources related to Egyptian mediation consultations between Gaza and Israel officials said last week to Qatari newspaper al-Arabi al-Jadid that Israel had conveyed a message that it was prepared to take positive action on a deal.

The sources claimed that the Israeli authorities invited the Egyptian mediator to pass a message on the condition that Hamas release information about the prisoners and their situation. This is in exchange for initial steps, including the release of old and sick prisoners as a test of seriousness for Sinwar's initiative in the Al-Aqsa Channel interview.
