Munich - German politicians are skeptical of the lures of holiday countries such as Austria or Croatia : The Federal Government's Tourism Commissioner, Thomas Bareiß, said that he believed that "a holiday rather regionally will be possible this year". Say: Vacation in Germany ...

Germany: Bareiß explained that in summer it could “be possible without any problems” to open vacation rentals and houses on the Baltic Sea or in the Black Forest. An argument for this: there are no crowds in the holiday home, a family could stay together . Hotels could gradually be opened if solutions for breakfast buffets and restaurants were found. The German holiday home association then called for a concept to create planning security for holidaymakers and landlords.

Corona crisis: where can we go on vacation? Austria

Austria: Austrian tourism is pushing for an opening of the border , as Germans make up a large proportion of the guests in the neighboring country in both winter and summer. "Where the hygiene rules are observed, vacations must also be possible again, also in Europe," wrote representatives of tourism, tour operators, the hospitality industry and air traffic in the FAZ. First of all, countries with successful protective measures should mutually lift travel restrictions in bilateral negotiations . An opening within the entire EU would then be the next step . Austria lifted the exit restrictions on Monday due to the continuing favorable development in the Corona crisis after almost seven weeks . From 1 May, a minimum distance of one meter from people who do not live in the same household is required. From May 15th, restaurants and bars may reopen . Then a maximum of four adults are allowed per table and a minimum distance of one meter must be maintained between the individual table groups, said Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP). A free choice of seats is not possible . The tables would be assigned. The government also recommends making a reservation in advance. Personnel who come into contact with guests must wear a face mask at work. Hotels and pensions may reopen from May 29th.

Corona crisis: where can we go on vacation? Croatia

Croatia: The Mediterranean country relies on "tourism corridors" . A corresponding agreement has already been agreed with the Czech Republic: Czech tourists who want to spend their summer vacation in Croatia must therefore provide proof that they are not infected with the corona virus . Then they could travel to Croatia by plane or by car. However, the Croatian health authorities were reluctant to state that tourists from countries with more corona cases than Croatia were not allowed to enter the country. To date, 1881 corona infections have been counted in Croatia, including 47 deaths. In Croatia tourism accounts for 17 percent of the economic output . Greece: Tourism accounts for almost a third of the economy here - tens of thousands of jobs are on the brink. The Greek Minister of Economic Affairs Adonis Georgidas said: "I don't think this season is lost." At least until May 15th, the entry ban applies to countries affected by Covid-19 such as Germany.

Corona crisis: where can we go on vacation? Italy, Spain, France

Italy, Spain, France: In the three countries particularly hard hit by the corona pandemic, there is little hope of a normal summer vacation season .

Corona crisis: where can we go on vacation? Turkey

Turkey: According to Minister of Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the country, which is heavily affected by the pandemic, is working on an "internationally recognized certification system" to declare tourist destinations as "corona virus-free zones under certain system requirements". Tourists would have to provide health documents that are internationally recognized at the time of entry .

Sweden: If travel countries in the south fail, some hope for Sweden as an alternative. The country has largely waived restrictions . So far, the Swedish government has not considered renting a holiday home and traveling with your own car as a problem. But it remains to be seen whether a quarantine is due after the holiday .

However, there is currently no clarity as to whether travel in the summer is even possible - the Federal Government wants to extend the worldwide travel warning until mid-June.
