(CNN Spanish) - In a message to the nation, the president of the Bolivian transitional government, Jeanine Áñez, announced the extension of the total quarantine in the country until May 10.
The president stated that, as of May 11, after evaluating the behavior of the pandemic in each of the country's departments, the "dynamic quarantine" will be applied with flexibility for the regions and cities least affected by the coronavirus.
The interim president explained that the implementation of a "dynamic quarantine" will depend on the behavior of the pandemic depending on the increase in cases - the Ministry of Health will make evaluations every seven days - and after that evaluation it will be made more flexible or harder according to three categories : high risk, medium risk and moderate risk.
Departments or cities that are at high risk will continue in total quarantine, while those that are at medium and moderate risk will be able to resume their economic activities in industry, commerce in markets and public transport under regulations that will be determined by the mayors. and governorates in each region.
The total closure of borders is maintained until May 31, except for nationals who wish to return to the country, the suspension of national and international flights, the temporary suspension of educational work, as well as all kinds of massive public events such as sports , religious, and cultural.
Likewise, measures such as the meter and a half of distance between people, the use of chinstraps in public places, disinfection and hand washing must continue to be compulsorily observed; and all biosecurity protocols.
The departments or cities that are at medium risk may resume their activities under the following parameters:
1) You will work 6 hours a day
2) There may be transportation companies for their workers
3) The transport of bicycles and motorcycles for work purposes will be allowed
4) The public service hours are from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm
5) People can only be in public spaces until 5:00 pm
6) Minors and seniors may go out for 1 hour a day around their homes.
7) The rest of the people can go out according to the schedules and the rules. Children must be accompanied by an adult and at the established times
The moderate risk will involve the resumption of activities under the following parameters:
1) You will work 8 hours a day
2) The hours of attention to the public go from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm
3) Citizens are prohibited from leaving from 7:00 pm to 05:00 am
4) There will be restriction of vehicular traffic according to the license plate number
5) "Minors under 18" and "older adults" may leave from 06:00 am to 12:00 pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult and at the established times
For the whole country, food service is allowed for home delivery from 09:00 am to 10:00 pm according to the norm that details the service activities.
The president said that the health authorities will periodically evaluate the measure in the different departments and cities, and it is not ruled out that those that have resumed their activities, but later show an increase in cases that put their population at risk again, could resume the total quarantine.
