The man had been taken into police custody by the gendarmes during the night of Monday to Tuesday, after the death of his 36-year-old partner, on a departmental road in eastern Corrèze, in Saint-Martin la Méanne, was it clarified with the parquet of Tulle. It was he himself who called for help and waited for them on the spot.

"Gray areas" in the suspect's statements cast doubt on the precise course of the evening, but the prosecution evoked a context of alcoholization of the couple, who had violated the confinement that evening, and a dispute occurred between them.
Spousal homicide
The man was transferred Wednesday afternoon to the regional criminal center of the Limoges court, where he was to be heard by an examining magistrate with a view to providing judicial information for spousal homicide.
If the facts were confirmed, this case would bring to at least 22 the number of alleged femicides since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP count. In 2019, AFP identified at least 126 cases of women killed by their partner or ex, i.e. a woman every three days on average.
