Walter Brilmayer and seven city councilors say goodbye in an unusual corona meeting. Mayor Brilmayer leaves after 26 years in office.

Ebersberg - During his term in office, he chaired more than 500 meetings of the city council and its committees, now his last was due: On Tuesday, the outgoing Ebersberg mayor Walter Brilmayer (CSU) welcomed the "old" councils one last time - instead of in the town hall Time in the old warehouse, where they could keep the minimum distance.

Actually, Brilmayer would have liked to have served sparkling wine and snacks to his farewell and that of seven city council members. Actually, he would have thanked long-time counselors by handshake and pinned pins on his lapel to honor him. In fact, the group would have set up a souvenir photo for the city's Golden Book. But Corona didn't allow all that. "Maybe we will catch up in autumn," said Brilmayer, who had hoped for another end of his 26-year term. "But if it doesn't work, then we cannot change it, there are worse things."

So he asked the outgoing city councilors to fetch the named baskets independently after the meeting. Hans Mühlfenzl (36 years city council, SPD), Alois Lachner (24, CSU), Rupert Abinger (24, CSU), Susanne Luther (24, CSU), Brigitte Schurer (18, SPD), Philipp Goldner had their last appearance in office (12, greens) and Michael Schulte-Langforth (12, greens).

Last session in the old warehouse: "almost a joke"

It is in a way "irony of fate, almost a joke" that the last meeting of this city council took place in the old warehouse, Brilmayer said. Because six years ago it was one of the first official acts of the then newly elected body to inaugurate this hall. He was proud of how much the old warehouse had enhanced the cultural reputation of the district town.

Ebersberg is also in a very good position in other respects, which is ultimately due to the solution-oriented work of the city council in recent years. "We have been envied a lot by others who have dealt with each other much more in the municipal council," he said and wished his successor Uli Proske (SPD), who had come as a listener, just as good luck with the new body.

Uli Proske can no longer remain fire department commander

Because he, as mayor, can no longer remain the fire brigade commander and his alleged successor Christoph Münch works in Munich and therefore is out of command during the day, the city councils decided to install two deputy commanders instead of one. The financial expenses for volunteering are limited to 100 to 200 euros per month, Managing Director Erik Ipsen calculated. The councils voted for it - unanimously, as so often in previous years.

Toni Ried: "great collaboration"

The fact that Brilmayer was respected and respected by the city councils of all political groups made it clear in their greetings. They thanked “great cooperation” (2nd Mayor Toni Ried, FW) and “sovereignty” (Hans Mühlfenzl, SPD) with the “respectable personality” Brilmayer (Philipp Goldner, Greens). In spite of the high level of recognition in front of the longest-standing mayor of the district town, everyone was brief: after all, city council meetings should be limited to the essentials in Corona times. And that was the word "thank you" that evening.
